Author Biography Author Biography

Dr. Tien Chih Grew up in Hilo, Hawaii where he graduated from Hilo High School. After briefly attending the Illinois Institute of Technology for a few years, he took a break and worked various odd jobs in Chicago for a few more years. Afterwards, he returned to Hilo and graduated with a Mathematics degree from the University of Hawaii at Hilo. He then attended the University of Montana for graduate school where he earned his Doctorate in Mathematics. He held the position of Assistant Professor at Newberry College in South Carolina for three years before returning to Montana and joining the faculty of MSUB in 2017!

He is interested in applications of Category Theory to Graph Theory, mentoring undergraduate research, developing more engaging teaching of Mathematics, implementing technology in teaching and OERs.

He enjoys cooking for this wife and two sons.
